Parcel Forum 2024: Actionable AI Presentation

Jason Murray

October 1, 2024

Parcel Forum 2024 was a great experience. The community has a positive outlook on the future and is eager for genuinely good ideas that will change their businesses.

I gave a presentation on real world AI + ML in the supply chain. It was a 45 minute session that I re-recorded afterwards because of the positive feedback on it.

The start is me giving some background on the history of AI + ML at Amazon to give some grounding of what a journey looks like.

From there I talk about why ML is most of the time the value, and AI isn't actually as practical yet.

After that, Kris gives a live demo of our dynamic time in transit map, available here if you'd like to see for yourself.

We then finish out with some take away ideas and concepts.

Hope you enjoy!

Your Rules Engine Doesn't Know What's Happening Right Now

Legacy shipping platforms run on rules someone wrote. This post breaks down where deterministic shipping execution breaks — and what it looks like when the decision-making layer learns from outcomes instead.
